Submission Descriptions:
Modern Classroom Mentorship Program
During our Virtual Mentorship Program, you will complete, and receive detailed feedback on, materials you’ll actually you’ll use with your students. Here’s what you’ll create - and how it will help you meet every student’s needs.
Mastery Plan: For a chosen lesson, you’ll develop a brief end-of-lesson assessment that your students will use to demonstrate mastery of that lesson’s content and/or skills. You’ll also share the practice that students will complete in order to develop mastery, as well as your class policies for revision and reassessment. Once created, these materials will help your students reach content mastery, prove it to you, and get the support they need if they fall short.
Self-Pacing Plan: Now that your first Modern Classroom lesson is planned, you’ll take a step back and design the systems that you’ll use to differentiate instruction, track student progress, foster collaboration, keep students motivated, and help students reflect on their learning. This work lays the foundation for students to learn at their own paces - and to develop true mastery as they go.
Blended Instruction Plan: For a chosen lesson, you’ll plan, record, and submit an instructional video that explains new content to your students. You’ll also enhance that video - using guided notes and/or embedded questions - to help keep your students engaged. Once it’s recorded, you’ll never have to repeat that lesson again… and your students can learn from you anytime, anywhere!
Learning Design Plan: Using screencasts, diagrams, and/or written descriptions, you’ll explain how both digital and physical spaces within your classroom will be organized, then describe the routines and procedures you’ll use to keep students on track. This plan ties the other elements of our model together and helps you envision how your Modern Classroom will really work.
Culminating Submission: You’ll bring everything you’ve learned together, by incorporating your mentor’s feedback to revise previous submissions and then planning two more Modern Classroom lessons. (If you’re an administrator or instructional coach, you’ll also have the option to give feedback on a sample Modern Classroom lesson instead.) Once you finish this, you’ll be eligible for our certified credentials, and ready to launch your own Modern Classroom!
Throughout the Program, you’ll work closely with one of our Expert Mentors - a practicing Modern Classroom educator whom we’ve trained to provide high-quality feedback and coaching. (See sample Feedback Journals here.) You’ll also be part of our worldwide community of educators, and have access to our educator forums and resource banks, where you’ll find additional support, resources, and guidance.
